Metropolitan Lifestyle

The Metropolitan museum of art is Home to art from all over the world but the most interesting to me is their Egyptian wing. With an actual tomb placed inside the museum the space is beautifully built and it’s truly an amazing experience to visit. Everything from Egyptian culture inspires me from the gold and jewel tones to the silhouettes and textures.

The Egyptian materials are what stuck out to me during my recent visit, the use of embellishment, the materials, the cotton, and silks. All used so beautifully and perfect. Their use of pelts and animal skin may not be proven in their hieroglyphics but you can see the use in few of their designs, which really stuck out to me.

This week I focused on menswear. I took literal inspiration from my Egyptian inspiration, as well as inspiration from sportswear and using more casual silhouettes that I would find myself wearing. I wanted to make something for myself something that I would actually wear if I could produce it.
